For the first time since 1929 the American National Debt is equal to the National GDP. I don't know about you, but out of everything I've heard, and tried to understand about this financial crisis that scared me, a lot, and here's why...

It points to something inherently broken, and not just in our monetary system but something broken in us, as a whole. I feel like we've let the things we consume, define who we are, in some cases so deeply, that we're basically willing to run ourselves into the ground over it. Somewhere along the line, buying things replaced having experiences, and success became measured in brands and bricks. Money has become not something to be earned, but something to be borrowed. Swollen, and worthless, and never enough...

Its time we started living within our means, and start re-evaluating for ourselves the measure of a successful life. I know there are quite a few people out there doing this already, and I hope it just gets stronger, so that we can learn to invest our time into things that are personally attainable, rather than use it to chip away at a mountain of debt, for things that are nothing but fantasies.
